Eastern Suburbs Junior Chess Club
What?
The Sydney Academy of Chess will be running a Junior Chess Club for all levels of players (Beginners to Advanced).
Each week, the children attending will have a chess lesson aimed at their skill level. Beginners will learn how to play and all of the rules of chess, as well as some basic checkmates and strategies later on. Intermediate and Advanced players will learn about opening ideas, tactics, strategies, endgames, and improve their calculation skills by learning to think many moves ahead.
Children will also be given time to play friendly and competitive games against each other. Intermediate and Advanced players will compete in a “Chess Club Ladder” competition, where the highest placed are awarded trophies at the end of the term.
