Online system, F.A.Q

Here are some Frequently Asked Questions from our users:

I'm trying to play as a registered user, but I never get a confirmation email, it's like if my application form hadn't been accepted, why?

The on-line Chess Systen which the Sydney Academy Of Chess has set up is an additional feature which we offer our students. We also allow registration for people who are closely related to the Academy, such as our studens´ parents, teachers from the schools we teach at, coaches, etc.

Why doesn't the on-line system have a chat?

The chat feature has been disabled. The reason for this is that most of our members are minors, and the NSW Department of Education requires that no chat be allowed on websites which are not directly controlled by schools or the Department itself. We have disabled messages on our forums for the same reason.

I get some very low rated players challenging me all the time. Is there anything I can do to prevent weaker players from challenging me?

First of all don't forget that you started with a low rating also, and in order to improve it, you probably had to play against a few players who were higher rated than you, so you might want to be nice to those players who are starting out. Having said that, there's something else you can do to limit the number of players challenging you: click on the filter and adjust the bar! see image below:

Why do I always have to type in my name when I use the on-line chess system?

We get this a lot! What is actually happening is that you're trying to use the system without having logged in first, and the program thinks you're a guest rather than a register user. If you get the following screen:

Guest Log in, on-line system

It means you have not logged in! You can type any name there, and you´ll be able to play on-line, yes, but only as a guest! Therefore, You need to log in first so that our database knows who you are. Needless to say, you can only log in once you have registered first...
